With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty Gast, who left us peacefully on November 23, 2023, at the age of 97.

Born on July 14, 1926, Betty's life was a remarkable journey of love, adventure, and an unwavering zest for life. She was the cherished wife of the late Earl L. Gast, with whom she shared a profound love for the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, creating countless memories along its serene shores.

Betty's most significant pride and joy were her five children: Beverly Birchfield and her husband Larry, Deborah Mignogno, Carol Rainey, Earl W. Gast, and the late Susan Powers. Her role as a mother was one she embraced with boundless love and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on each of their lives.

Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Larry and Jason Birchfield, Meghan Powers, and her six great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. Dear sister of Nancy Gondeck

In her later years, Betty's adventurous spirit took her across the globe, with memorable visits to Ukraine, Georgia, Italy, Colombia, and more. These travels were not just journeys but a testament to her passion for life and learning about diverse cultures.

Friends may call at family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A. at 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at Route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Wednesday November 29, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday November 30, 2023 at 10:00AM. Interment Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens.
