November 18, 1953 to May 29, 2022

On Sunday, May 29, 2022, Carl John Hartmann Jr. passed away. Beloved husband of Susan Hartmann. Loving father of Justin Michael Hartmann and his wife Jaclyn. Cherished son-in-law of Alfred and Geraldine Wisniewski. Brother of Julia Weidow and her husband Harold and Louis Hartmann and his wife Rachel. Brother-in-law of Roxanne Elmore and Rene Donohue. Grandfather of Nathaniel Hartmann and Coraline Hartmann. Carl is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

Carl worked for 42 years in the healthcare industry in Maryland.  While still in college, he began his career in health at Church Home Hospital, then retiring later in his career from Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center.

He was a member of the Bowley's Quarters Volunteer Fire Department.  During his service with the 21 company he received distinguished Citations for the Amtrack Disaster 1987 in Middle River, and Fire Fighter Of the Year for saving a disabled elderly neighbor from a house fire.

He had a love for travel and especially spending quality time with his grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A.  1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at Route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 7 PM. A memorial service will start at 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
