Charles Zellinger was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 4, 1939, son of Charles George Zellinger (1912-1989) and Mary Anna Taormino Zellinger (1916-2014). Charles, known as Charlie and sometimes “Charlie Brown”, began Kenwood High School when it was still on Philadelphia Road and graduated in 1956. Later, he later attended Dundalk Community College. In 1957 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and reached rank of Seaman Recruit before being honorably discharged in 1959. For a number of years, he lived in Delta, Pennsylvania until meeting his wife, Ida Karen Watkins Grund (1944-2007). On 28 September 1972 they married in Towson, Maryland. They were happily married until 2007, when Charlie became a widower.
Interestingly, Charles and Ida always lived on Dineen Drive in Dundalk, selling their first house and purchasing a second. The first house was number1955 Dineen Road and the second house and current home is number 1931.
Charles was employed as a truck driver, volunteered as a fire-fighter, enjoyed fishing and maintaining his 1994 Dodge Caravan.
