Elizabeth “Betsy” Catherine Ellwood, 81, passed away on December 16, 2021.

Betsy, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend was born on September 14, 1940 to Richard and Mary Ellwood in Baltimore’s 10th Ward.

In Life, Betsy loved to laugh. She had a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor. Regardless of the situation, she readily supported others with a warm smile and her witty sense of humor. Betsy’s proudest accomplishment was her family, particularly her two daughters and the special bonds they shared. She cherished the years spent helping raise her two grandchildren and never missed a chance to spend time with her brothers. Betsy was and always will be “Authenticity Herself”. Her smile was larger than life. She was loved by everyone and will be missed dearly.

Betsy is survived by her daughters Stacey Callaghan and Jennifer Derry, brothers Robert Ellwood, Richard Ellwood and John Ellwood; sisters Marry Ellen Mitchell and Kathleen Harker; grandchildren Harmony Molina and Cedar Connell; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends including Carol Young and Ginny O’Malley.

Friends may call at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home at 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex, MD at route 702 (beltway exit 36) on December 21st from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  Funeral service will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1704 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex, MD. 21221, on December 22nd at 9:00 AM.
