Elmer John Reichel passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 1oth, 2013. Elmer was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on August 18, 1919 and moved to Baltimore, MD. in 1939. This is when he began his 55 year career with the Social Security Administration and where he met his wife, Annabelle. Among other positions, Elmer worked as a Budget Analyst for Social Security, until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Annabelle Reichel, his loving son, Gerard Reichel, and daughter-in-law, Virginia, of Herndon,,,VA. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Timothy Reichel (Rebecca) of Manassas, VA., Elizabeth Reichel Aquilino (Byron) and Christopher Reichel, of Herndon, Va. In addition, he leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, and their families. He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Loverock, of Syracuse, N.Y.
Elmer loved to travel and go camping and enjoyed trains and railroading. He volunteered as a Merit Badge Coordinator for the Boy Scouts at Our Lady of Mount Carmel for 15 years and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral from the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A. 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at Route 702 (Beltway exit 36) on Saturday at 8:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9 am. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM.
