On October 27, 2021, Ethel Ryder, 83, of Essex, Maryland passed away into God’s graces after a period of declining health.

The daughter of Green and Julia Ledford, she was born on June 3, 1938, in Bakersville, North Carolina.

In addition to being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ethel loved working in her garden and holding various volunteer roles at Back River United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, she held on to an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jack L. Tysor, second husband Olin M. Ryder, siblings Lela, Dallas, Blanche and Doyle, and grandson Benjamin Tysor. She is survived by sisters Beulah and Bernice, son Richard Tysor and his wife, Mary, son Roger Tysor and his wife, Debbie, and daughter Julia Ryder, three grandchildren: Sarah, Brittany and Zachary, and eight great-grandchildren: Savannah, Selah, Kanye, Kairos, Kaitlyn, Wesley, Samuel and Josiah.

Friends may call at the Back River United Methodist Church, 544 Back River Neck Road, Essex, MD 21221 on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.  Funeral services on Monday at 1:00PM.  Interment Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Back River United Methodist at 544 Back River Neck Road, Essex, Maryland, 21221, where Ethel found much joy in worship and her church family.
