Henry Peter Himpler III was born on November 2, 1959, in Baltimore to Henry Peter Himpler Jr., and Margaret M. Himpler (nee Kappler). He was the cherished husband of Cathy D. Himpler. Devoted father of Mackenzie Himpler and Shelby Eikenberg and her husband Jason and their mother Cathy Lewis and her husband Shawn Boos.
He was the beloved grandfather of Everett and Holly Eikenberg. He was the loving brother of Katherine Himpler, John Himpler and his wife Melinda, and Christine Himpler. He was also brother-in-law to Steven and Reva Kuhlman, Joyce Lewis and the late Wayne Eller, John and Lula Mae Gray, and Charmaine Smith and the late Richard Smith. He had many nieces and nephews that he adored.
Known as Butch, he served as a Baltimore County Policeman for 33 years and was a member of FOP Lodge 4. He began his career at the Essex Precinct. For most part of his career, he served as the armor and range officer, where he repaired weapons, instructed small weapons firing to new recruits,and provided annual training. He was also a hostage negotiator who worked hard to save lives and taught his knowledge of terrorism throughout the country for 16 years.
After his retirement, he worked as a Bailiff for the District Court of Towson and the Bulle Rock Golf Course. He loved to travel with his wife, his favorite place was Sarasota, Florida. He also loved to spend time with dear friends in Ocean City. He loved spending time with his daughters, Mackenzie and Shelby, son-in-law Jason and his grandchildren, Everett and Holly. He also was an avid golfer.
Butch will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his ability to find humor in everything, and his love of life. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for over 2 years.
Family and friends may gather at the family-owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home, 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex, Maryland 21221, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where a memorial service will be held starting at 4:00 PM. A private cremation was held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: BARCS, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
