John is affectionately known as "HANK", was born in Silverton, Pa. near POTTSVILLE, on May 14th, 1924. He was the son of Harry Sausnock and Mary Hoptak. His dad was a coal miner who died of black lung disease when Johnwas 14. His mom lived well into her 90's and died of natural causes.
He was one of nine children and his brother's names were: Alec, Harry, Joseph, Michael and Steve. His sisters were: Eva, Ann and Julie. He outlived all of his siblings.
John went to school through eighth grade and joined the Coast Guard at the tender age of 18.
He would eventually meet Betty Lucille Isner who would become the love of his life and wife of 62 years.
Together, they would be blessed with six children: John Charles, Janice Lee, MaryAnn, Stephen James, Betty Jean and Joseph Alan.
John worked primarily at General Motors as an Assembler and later a Line Replenisher/Forklift driver or as he said: hi-lo operator.
He and Betty, put all their kids through Catholic School which was Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Among his favorite things were: His Wife Betty and his six children, THIRTEEN GRANDCHILDREN : Marie, John Paul, Beverly, Stephen James Jr., Chris, Ryan , Eric, Shane, Mikey, Missie, Joe, John and Jeff, and most recently, his adorable GreatGrandDaughter, Sarah Marie.
John also loved: Polka Music, his accordian which he played very well, Chocolate covered cherries, EDY's NIBS, Lucky Strikes and Pall Mall cigarettes,Skoal and Copenhagen snuff, Pikesville whiskey and any cheap beer you can think of like Natty Boh and Red, White and Blue.
John was also a child of the Depression, as evidenced by the thousands of dollars I found in his bedroom, tucked neatly under his dresser.
He was a handsome man, who never came downstairs without combing his hair. He was infamous for making his daily "to do" list, washing the car he never drove, and tending to his lawn and garden which always looked beautiful!
He forever prayed the rosary and asked God for forgiveness for all of his sins constantly. He's an example for all of us in that regard.
John was deeply religious and one of the  fondest memories was him cooking steak on Friday nights after work at GM and waiting past midnight, as the family couldn't eat meat on Friday's.
