Margie M. Kinney, of Timonium, Maryland, died January 19, 2011. Mrs. Kinney, who was 88, was a resident of Mays Chapel Ridge Assisted Living Community.
Mrs. Kinney was born in Mt. Holly, NC and attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC from 1941 to 1943, and then Emerson College in Boston, MA where she studied radio and dramatics.
Mrs. Kinney was a regular staff announcer on several small radio stations in NC and worked at WBT Charlotte as an assistant to Grady Cole. During WWII, she worked as a secretary at The Martin Company in Middle River, MD. Later in her career she worked for the federal government as a secretary including 3 years at the White House during the Kennedy-Johnson Administration. She also had a career in television as Wynne MAR, TV Weather Girl at WMAR-TV in Baltimore, MD from 1960-1967.
She married Alfred Kinney in 1969 and moved to Warrenton, MO, where she was active in politics and a member of Senator John Danforth’s 1982 campaign staff as his auditor. Margie and Al retired to South Carolina where they enjoyed their residence in Georgetown and their beach house in Garden City. They also enjoyed their RV and made frequent trips to Vermont and Missouri. Mr. Kinney passed away in 2004 just after moving to Florida to be near his son, Doug.
She also had two stepsons that predeceased her, Michael and Hugh Kinney.
Friends may call at the Bruzdzinski Funeral Home PA 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at Route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral service on Saturday at 8:00 PM.
Surviving are one son, K. Richard Kell of Lutherville, MD, two stepsons, Douglas N. Kinney of Ormond Beach, FL and Scott R. Kinney, of Warrenton, MO, one stepdaughter, Suzanne K. Schultz of Wellsville, PA, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
