Mary Ellen Krol (née Palasik), 82, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023. A beacon of compassion and care, Mary Ellen constantly looked out for everyone around her—whether they were friends, aunts, uncles, parents, sisters, children, or grandchildren. She especially cherished her 60-year marriage with her loving husband, Stanley J. Krol, Sr. The couple enjoyed simple yet meaningful pleasures like shared walks and coffee in the park, as well as local outings. Making their home in Essex, Maryland for more than 50 years, Mary Ellen's generosity and kindness extended not just to her family but to neighbors and friends as well.

Surviving her are her devoted children: Theresa Krol, Stanley Krol, Jr., and Helen Rose, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Dylan, Peter, Patrick, Christopher, Catherine, Lucy, Sundance, and Trinity. She is also survived by her treasured sister Stephany, daughter-in-law Christina and son-in-law Jeffrey.

Born and raised in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore, Mary Ellen was a 1958 graduate of the original Patterson High School. Early in her life, she worked at Hutzler's department store on Howard Street before fully and lovingly committing herself to homemaking and family life. When her children were older, she took on a meaningful role at Essex Community College. For nearly 20 years, she served as a "STAR," registering students. She took great pride in helping new students navigate their academic beginnings, retiring from this role in 2003 to care for a grandchild facing health challenges. In her free time, Mary Ellen was the trusted 1st mate to her husband on their boating adventures and a passionate gardener, particularly proud of her 50-year-old Peace Rose.

Mary Ellen leaves behind a legacy marked by love, selfless caregiving, and enduring family bonds.

Friends and family may call at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home at 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Thursday, Oct. 19th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service is on Friday, Oct. 20th at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St Stanislaus Cemetery on Boston Street and Dundalk Avenue.
