Melda O. Lynn, age 93, of Essex, Md passed away on July 2, 2014 at Stella Maris Hospice.
Born in Johnston County, NC, Melda was the daughter of “Bud” and “Bet” Williams and the wife of Ersal E. Lynn of Depue, Illinois. They met during WWII in Portsmouth, Va and later moved to Baltimore, Md in 1945. She is survived by 2 sons, Dennis Lynn and his wife Jodie of Fallston, Md and Thomas Lynn Sr of Abingdon, Md. She is also survived by her sisters, Marie Trower of Norfolk, Va and Joyce Woodard of Raleigh, NC, along with her brothers Egbert Williams of Orange Park, FL, Ray Williams of Charlotte, NC, Doug Williams of Baltimore, MD, and Curt Williams of Clayton, NC. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Cleo Williams of Detroit, MI, George Williams of Lutherville, Md, and Oscar Williams of Princeton, NC. In addition Melda has 5 grandchildren – Tara Kahler, Denise Krebs, Thomas Lynn Jr, Michael Lynn, and Erin Lynn. There are also 7 great grandchildren – Kylie Magness, Bryce Kahler, Wyatt Krebs, Gavin Kahler, Abby Lynn, Layla Lynn, and Hannah Lynn.
Melda worked at Martin Marietta for 17 years and Westinghouse for 11 years before she retired in 1982. She was the matriarch of her family and always enjoyed having company, cooking, and traveling to North Carolina to visit her birthplace and many friends and family. She also joined the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and thoroughly enjoyed the friends there and the various functions. The last few years have been spent at Oakwood Care Center. She always looked forward to bingo and the music shows and made many new friends there also.
Visitation will be held at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9. Funeral services will held at the funeral home on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11 with interment at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
