February 1, 2013.  Mildred was born August 27, 1921 in Ashe County North Carolina to Byron and Vera Osborne.  She graduated from Nathan’s Creek High School.

Mildred moved to Bel Air Maryland from North Carolina after high school where she met her husband Gale Sexton.  They were married for 58 years and lived most of their life in Essex.  She worked at the Signal Depot, Lever Brothers, and Martin Marietta, where she was a “Rosie the Riveter”, hanging wings on the planes during the war.  Mildred also worked for the Stembridge Recreation Center for many years, running the Mars Estates Fun Center.  She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, who organized fund raisers for charity, the Organized Country Musicians, and Ateaze Senior Center.  Mildred was a long-time member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.  Mildred enjoyed Gospel music and dancing. She was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.  She will be greatly missed by her family, and also by her second family at Joyous Living.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Gale Sexton, her parents, and her 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  Mildred is survived by her daughter Anita Sexton Cunningham, her son-in-law Tom Cunningham; Grandchildren Leah Cunningham Stout and her husband Jason Stout, Thomas Cunningham and his wife Lindsay Chase Cunningham, Gabriel Cunningham; three great-grandchildren Tyler and Jessica Stout, and Cole Cunningham; two brothers Bob Osborne and his wife Grace Osborne, and Ronald Osborne and his wife Dorothy Osborne; three sister-in-laws Alene Blackburn and her husband Clay Blackburn, Faye Pruitt, and Debra Hoffman; her nephew William Hayes, and many other nieces and nephews.








On February 1, 2013 Mildred Sexton (NEE Osborne) Beloved wife of the late Horton Gale Sexton. Devoted mother of Anita Sexton Cunningham and her husband Tom Cunningham. Loving grandmother of Leah and Jason Stout, Thomas and Lindsay Cunningham and Gabriel Cunningham. Dear great grandmother of Tyler and Jessica Stout and Cole Cunningham. Also survived by her brothers Bob Osborne and Ronald Osborne.
Friends may call at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A.  1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at Route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM.  Funeral services on Tuesday 1 PM in Mars Hill Baptist Church, 1400 Old Eastern Avenue Essex MD 21221. Interment Oak lawn Cemetery.
