On April 15, 2021, Richard Rode Hughes Sr., beloved husband of the late Mary Hughes (nee Doran); devoted father of Richard R. Hughes Jr. and his wife Karen, and Carlee Healy and her fiancé Ray Agnello; loving grandfather of Richard R. Hughes III, Riley Hughes, Kayley Hughes, Mark Healy Jr. and his wife Brittany, and Matthew Healy; cherished great-grandfather of Addison, Braelynn, and Mark Healy III; dear brother of Hope Ward and her husband Colin. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home PA 1407 Old Eastern Avenue Essex, Maryland 21221 (Beltway Exit 36) on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Receiving of friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial luncheon will be held at St. Clare Catholic Church, 714 Myrth Avenue, Essex, MD. 21221, on Saturday, August 14th, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM. Inurnment of cremains in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Garrison Forest will be private.
