Stephen Julian Sopel, 74, of Middle River, Maryland passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 17, 1950 to the late Walter and Julia Sopel (nee Szpara). He was the beloved husband of Sharon Sopel (nee Ritz); devoted father of Jennifer Eck and her husband Brian, Thomas Sopel, and the late Stephen W. Sopel; cherished grandfather of Joshua Eck, and Brianna Eck. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.

Stephen graduated from Archbishop Curley High School in 1968. Stephen retired from the State of Maryland. He had many jokes and stories to tell. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A private cremation was held.
