On January 8, 2024, Thomas J. Martin passed away peacefully. Beloved husband of 61 years to Mary Lou Martin; devoted father of Kimberly Ryan (Timothy), Tom Martin (Paula), Kristen Robinson (Matt), and Peter Martin; cherished grandfather of Kelly, Erin, Payton, Chase, and Colin; dear brother of Veronica Johnson, Therese Maasch, Marie Wilkins, and the late Jack Martin. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, and long-time friend of Bill W.

Tom was a native New Yorker with Brooklyn roots, who lived on Long Island for 59 years.

Tom started his business career as an Investment Banker on Wall Street. He then became passionate about empowering small business owners. He started a publishing company called, “The Business Owner” in 1976 and sold bi-monthly newsletters.  Over the years, he also enjoyed advising family and friends on financial matters.

Tom’s main pleasure in life was spending time with his family.  He loved boating and fishing with them on the Long Island Sound. The highlight of his boating was the fishing at Montauk Point.

Tom also had a passion for helping others and volunteering his time. He enjoyed being a lector at St. Gertrude’s Church in Bayville, NY, and was also very active in helping families in need.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10003 Bird River Road, Middle River, Maryland 21220 on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 12 PM. Friends may visit at the family owned Bruzdzinski Funeral Home P.A., 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex at route 702 (beltway exit 36) on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Interment will be held at a later date.
