William Albert Travers Sr.

William A. Travers, Sr, 93, a lifetime resident of Essex, MD, beloved husband for seventy years of Patricia C. Travers, passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 21, 2022, at his home in Essex.

Bill was born in Essex, MD on January 9, 1929, son of the late William and Elise (Hall) Travers.  He was a foreman for Bendix in the 1950s and a warehouse manager for Elias Wilf flooring for over 20 years.  He retired at 62 and has been enjoying life with family and friends ever since.  He had a wide circle of close friends including his childhood roller skating group and the Guys & Dolls club.  Bill enjoyed watching the Orioles.  He liked going to Colt games and watching the Raven’s with family.  He loved being on the water and boating on Broad Creek and the Chesapeake Bay.  He treasured nature and had a special connection with both domestic and wild animals.  He cherished card games with friends and family and watching his grandchildren play sports.  But, more than anything he enjoyed people, conversing with family and friends who are all extended family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, William A. Travers, Jr. and his wife Linda, and Ronald P. Travers and his wife Pam; and his two daughters, Patricia C. Shifflett and Suzanne Battista and her husband Tony; six grandchildren, Jr Shifflett, Sean Travers, Garrett Travers, Bruce Travers, Laurel Walker and Patrick Travers; two great-grandchildren Johanna & Jet Walker; his nephew Randy Fertig and his wife Donna and his niece Wendy Dawson.  Besides his parents, William was predeceased by his two sisters Helen Fertig and her husband Marvin and Thelma Travers; and his nephew Terry Fertig.

A memorial gathering will be held at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home 1407 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex, Maryland 21221 on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 11AM until the start of the service at 12:30PM
