Louis Carville Myers, 82, known as “Lou” to his co-workers,friends and neighbors or “Carv” to family members, passed over to heaven peacefully in his home in Bradenton, FL  on May 1, 2018. Lou was born on August 15, 1935 in Rosedale, MD to Lula Katherine (Berk) Myers Mroz and Harry John Myers, and lived in Essex, MD for over 81 years. He is predeceased by his brother Andrew William Myers, Sr and his wife Joan (Greeley) Myers.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eunice Jacqueline (Hettes) Myers of Bradenton, Fl; his son, Louis William Myers and his wife Deborah of Essex, MD;  his daughter, Jacqueline Jean (Myers) Heisse and her husband Steven of Holmes Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his loving and beautiful caregivers, Cynthia, Kathy, Ariel, Andrica, Stacey, Nina and Marcie.

After working for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company as a lineman for a couple of years, Lou went to work for the Western Electric Baltimore Works wiring plant (part of the Bell System and AT&T) for 31 years. He held various positions from millwright to maintenance mechanic for the machinery in the plant. Lou was one of the last workers in the plant when it closed its doors in 1986.

Lou enjoyed building and fixing things his entire life.  At his home in Essex, MD he built a large concrete driveway, a one car garage and a three car garage.  He built a large back porch and improved his front porch with decorative block and brick walls.  He also put an addition on his house and built furniture, sun decks, play houses, toys and built-in cabinetry throughout his home.  He could fix anything and had all the tools! He was also an avid investor in the stock market and always saved a portion of every paycheck throughout his life.  Lou also loved country music and taking vacations in Hawaii, Branson, MO, Atlantic City, NJ and driving the United States visiting family.

He belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Essex, MD and the Communications Workers of America Local 2101, as well as The Telephone Pioneers of America.  Lou served in the Air Force Reserves from October 1, 1957 to October 1,1963. He was a wonderful father and husband.

A viewing will be held at Bruzdzinski Funeral Home at 1407 Old Eastern Avenue in Essex, MD from 3 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on Sunday, May  6th.  The Funeral Service is at St. John’s Lutheran Church 518 Franklin Ave at 11:00 am on Monday, May 7th, 2018. He will be laid to rest at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens in Rosedale following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any of the following: The Alzheimer’s Association, The American Diabetes Association and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Essex, Maryland.
