Velma Dawn (Schappell) Forsyth

Velma Dawn Forsyth, age 60, passed away at her home in Manchester MD on Sunday February 18th, 2018.  Velma (Dawn as she liked to be called) was born on January 18th, 1958 in Baltimore to Ina Marie Gilbert and Melvin Elwood Schappell.  Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She is survived by children: John and Tina Martin, and Jennifer and Matt Snyder.  Grandchildren – Austin and Hayley Martin, and Cole and Reed Snyder. Siblings and Spouses Larry Schappell, Jerry and Kathy Schappell, Terry and Donna Schappell, Janie and Joe Krasnodemski, and Don Lynas.  Boyfriend Jeff Jantz, and many friends that she made along the way. Velma was known for her outstanding cooking and willingness to always help a friend in need.  Dawn spent most of her adult life as an accountant for R.M Schmidt but finally gave into her love for the kitchen and opened Madison Bay restaurant in Madison MD.  The world will miss one of its true treasures, and I’m sure she is watching over all of her friends and family on her stairway to heaven.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 3rd, 2018 at Bruzdzinski funeral home located at 1407 Old Eastern Ave in Essex MD from 2-4 with the service starting at 4 pm all are welcome to attend.
